If there is one makeup product that I cannot live without, one of them would be loose/setting powders. Not only does it make your makeup last longer, some new formulas nowadays has a blurring effect to minimize skin imperfections. One of my favorite brand of translucent loose powder is Laura Mercier but a tub is priced at almost 2k pesos.
Is this a good dupe for LM? Read on to know my thoughts.
Althea sent me this product a few weeks ago and I was lucky enough to be
the first to try it. This is the first product under their brand name.
The cute box is reminiscent to Althea's iconic pink box.
Althea Petal Velvet Powder is a translucent loose powder that claims to set makeup and leaves behind a silky finish. It is infused with oil from Althea seeds, this powder works to keep sebum production without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look.
The powder is housed in a pink container with a sifter. I love the
fluffy puff that comes with it and use it to set my makeup. The size of this velvet powder is also perfect for touch-ups and in your makeup kit since the size is perfect for travelling.
This only comes in 1 shade, but don't fret because it is translucent and blends with any skintone. Please refer to my swatch below. It goes invisible after blending.
Althea Petal Velvet Powder swatch on NC20 skintone
The texture is ohh so soft, and velvety! It feels lightweight on the skin, looks invisible (doesn't alter the shade of your base/foundation) and mattifies my skin without making it look flat. It has a blurring effect that minimizes pores and blemishes. What I also like about it is that it doesn't give a white cast on photos.
It is made with 100% pure silica that has excellent oil absorbing properties for a long-lasting sebum control.
Overall:
If you are on a budget, I highly recommend this powder and is a good alternative/dupe for the famous Laura Mercier Translucent powder. This is available on Althea's site for Php 210 (3 grams).
For the price, it does a good job in setting my makeup and gives me a flawless look. On my combination to oily skin, I noticed that my t-zone starts to get shiny after 4 hours. On my drier areas, i didn't notice any dry patches so it is safe to say that this powder is formulated for all skintypes, from dry to oily.
Till next time,
